Tracie Martyn Enzyme Exfoliant, $85
A brightening mask/scrub that targets dull skin and dark spots
PAK: “There are amazing ingredients in this very effective mask—every exfoliant from salicylic acid to pineapple enzymes to malic, tartaric and lactic acids! This is the equivalent of a doctor’s microdermabrasion. I’d even leave it on longer than the suggested maximum 15 minutes, after you build up a tolerance.”

THE MYTH: A dose of oxygen is good for your skin.
THE FACT: “Oxygen is supplied to (skin) tissue in the hemoglobin in red blood cells,” Pak says. That oxygen comes from breathing—“it’s not delivered through the skin or by the air that surrounds us.” So whether your facialist is peddling oxygen creams, serums, or a facial that uses an O₂-spewing gun, the only thing she’s selling you is hot air.

“For the sagging I’d noticed, Pak explained an incredibly basic way to tone the face: ‘Maintain your weight.’”
